LUS Fiber is building a fiber-fast community, bringing fiber optics directly to every home, business and school in the city of Lafayette, creating Lafayette's first and only 100% Fiber-To-The-Home network. Our network will span more than 83,500 miles of glass fiber throughout the city of Lafayette, more than any other provider. This powerful infrastructure will deliver state-of-the-art communications services directly to more than 57,000 homes and businesses, with no other alternate cabling types in between. Better, faster and more cost-efficient communications means improved quality of life and greater opportunities for economic development.
There is a total of four construction phases, which began early in 2008 with projected completion of the entire city by 2010. Customers located in the first area in Lafayette to be deployed with LUS Fiber will have services available by February 2009. By early 2011, all phases will be able to subscribe to LUS Fiber services.
Once construction crews are ready to deploy the fiber optic network in a neighborhood, door hangers will be distributed notifying residents of the work planned and giving them the opportunity to receive future fiber updates via e-mail.
