Lafayette Utilities System continues its commitment to the community's growth and progress with the creation of LUS Fiber, Lafayette's first 100% fiber optic network.
 
Our Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) network is the most dynamic means to provide what we consider to be the fourth utility: communications. We promise enhanced TV programming, the fastest Internet speeds, and crystal-clear phone services all at a significant savings over traditional providers.
 
A bold initiative and the result of overwhelming community support, LUS Fiber will be the first municipal FTTH system serving an entire community in Louisiana.  Our network will span more than 83,500 glass miles and puts Lafayette ahead of the digital curve. This powerful infrastructure will deliver state-of-the-art communications services directly to more than 57,000 homes, businesses and schools. Better, faster and more cost- efficient communications means improved quality of life and greater opportunities for economic development.  
 
Bundled services - TV/Video, Internet and Phone - will be offered on average 20% less than standard prices of competitors. The network is being built in four phases, and we will serve our first customer in early 2009. By 2011, the entire city will be fiber-ready to deliver service to all phases.
